 Ethos
The mission statement of the school takes its inspiration from the philosophy and traditions of the Dominican Sisters who founded the school in 1846.
"... We endeavour to care for all our students, cherishing the uniqueness of each person in an atmosphere permeated by the Christian values of Truth, Justice and Peace. St Mary's(school) aims, in co-operation with parents, to enable each student to achieve her full potential physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually" Extract from school Mission Statement Read full statement> |

Religious instruction is an important part of the school curriculum. There is a school chaplain who assists in the preparation for liturgical services. First Communion and Confirmation services are highlights in the school calendar.
"Staff members endeavour to keep abreast of developments in the education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing by enhancing their professional knowledge and skills.
There is a strong sense of common purpose within the school community which includes pupils, parents, school staff and residence team." WSE report 2010 | | |
