Mathematics
The Aims of Marian School's Primary Maths Curriculum are :
- To develop a positive attitude towards mathematics and an appreciation of both its practical and aesthetic aspects.
- To develop problem solving abilities and a facility for the application of mathematics to everyday life.
- To enable our pupils to use mathematical language effectively and accurately.
- To enable our pupils to acquire an understanding of mathematical concepts to their appropriate level of development and ability.
At primary level, pupils engage with the full range of strands required in the Mathematics curriculum. Pupils’ access to the curriculum is appropriately differentiated and an emphasis is placed on developing pupils’ enjoyment. The pupils are provided with a broad range of opportunities to develop an understanding of basic concepts and to acquire mathematical skills
