Message from the Principal

picture of regina with children

For over one hundred and sixty years it has been our privilege to share with parents in the education of their deaf children

Inspired by the philosophy and traditions of the Dominican Sisters, we endeavour to care for all our students, cherishing the uniqueness of each person in an atmosphere permeated by the Christian values of Truth, Justice and Peace.

We welcome both day and residential students. A dedicated team of teachers, assistants, residential care workers and others, with a wealth of experience and expertise is available to each of our students.

Our small class size allows us to offer intensive, individual attention in a relaxed, friendly and caring environment.

St. Mary's had been to the forefront in introducing a wide range of progressive programmes to enhance the educational opportunities of our students. These include the Humanities programme, Environmental and Social Studies and the Social, Personal and Health Education programme. The school also piloted the Junior Certificate Schools Programme (JCSP), Horizon (a pre-employment programme funded by the European Social Fund), and the Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA).

"Teachers in St Mary's have used interactive whiteboard technology for several years and have developed significant expertise in its application."
WSE report, 2010

"The staff of St Mary's is proud of the school's tradition of making separate and distinct educational provision for pupils at primary and post-primary levels."
WSE report, 2010

If you would like to know more about St Mary's or would like to visit us to see what we have to offer, please do not hesitate to contact us.
